Nathanael Butler is the Founder, President, and Principal Consultant of MWResource, Inc. He holds both MSEE and BSEE degrees from Temple University and began his career as a Senior Control Systems Engineer at Trigen Energy Company, overseeing plant control systems for 26 facilities across North America. Nathanael later worked on Distributed Control Systems projects for Elsag-Bailey. He began consulting in 1997, supporting ten utilities across North and South America in preparation for Y2K. Afterward, he held senior engineering and project leadership roles at ALSTOM and ISO New England, where he led major EMS upgrades, market development initiatives, and the buildout of a new backup control center and data center. Since founding MWResource, Nathanael has led several major utility upgrades, and grown the company consistently year over year.
Philip Jap holds MSEs in Electrical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan. He began his career as a software developer before advancing through system integration and project engineering roles into executive leadership. As Director of Operations, he led software development and integration, oversaw program management for electric utility systems, and drove key technology and process improvements. He later served as a product manager for core platform software. Philip’s international experience includes serving as Vice President of Operations for China and North America, where he managed large-scale, multi-disciplinary teams and expanded business operations across East Asia and North America. Following a tenure managing 24/7 technical support for mission-critical control systems, Philip transitioned into consulting a decade ago. He now advises electric utilities on long-term strategy, guiding them through the complexities of system replacements and grid modernization initiatives.
Paul Freeman earned his BSEE degree from Pennsylvania State University. He spent the first ten years of his career at Massachusetts Electric and PECO in roles including Field Engineer, Distribution Engineer, and Planning Engineer, where he performed power system studies, supported distribution operations, responded to emergency situations, and designed reliable distribution facilities. Paul later joined Alstom’s EMS division as a Senior Project Engineer, working on SCADA and EMS system projects. He then spent 13 years at PPL in the EMS support group, progressing to Manager of the EMS Support Team and leading major system upgrades and database conversions. Prior to joining MWResource, Paul worked with SEL Engineering Services as a Project Manager. He joined MWResource in 2019 to lead the Allentown-based team and apply his extensive utility experience.
Adrienne Kantola holds her BA in International Management and Spanish from Hamline University. After working as a program coordinator at Target Corporation, she began her career in the utility industry at Open Systems International, Inc. (now AspenTech). She worked alongside the sales and solutions engineering departments preparing demonstrations and presentations, delivering proposals and contracts, and organizing user group events, to grow the company’s revenue five-fold globally. Adrienne joined the team at MWResource in 2016, eager to leverage her business development experience to continue growth at a company geared towards aligning utilities with reliable talent.
Raphaele Pelaez earned her BA from the University of Florida and her Master’s degree from George Mason University. She began her career at EDS (later Hewlett Packard), supporting CMMI efforts on a military systems account as part of the Software Engineering Process Group. She later shifted her focus to leadership development and served as the Human Resources liaison between corporate leadership and account personnel. After time dedicated to family, entrepreneurship, and community service, Raphaele returned to the workforce as an office manager supporting religious school operations at Temple Rodef Shalom. She then joined TCG, Inc., where she served as Director of Human Resources for 11 years, helping grow the company from 35 to 160 employees. Raphaele joined MWResource in 2021 to support continued growth through strong HR leadership.
Patrick Brown earned his MBA from Benedictine University and began his career in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he transitioned into the energy sector, starting in Bulk Electric System Operations at PJM Interconnection, where he supported dispatch operations and ensured reliable, economic system performance. He later joined Essential Power, LLC, managing the organization’s Ethics and Compliance Programs to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. At Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), Patrick held several executive leadership roles spanning IT Business Operations, Shared Services, Human Resources, Resource Planning, and System Planning (South). In addition to his role at MWResource, Patrick also serves as Managing Director of Vedeni Energy, LLC, providing strategic guidance and business intelligence to clients in the electric power industry.
Liz Geris earned her BS in Economics and Finance from New York University at Stony Brook. She is a results-driven leader with over 20 years of experience supporting for-profit businesses across the consulting, technology, and software sectors. Before joining MWResource, Liz spent 18 years at Open Systems International, Inc. (now AspenTech) as the Senior Director of Finance and Accounting, where she played a pivotal role leading up to the company’s successful acquisition by a publicly traded firm. Her global expertise includes managing banking and financial reporting for international offices in Australia, Canada, Colombia, India, and Spain. A champion of scalable infrastructure, Liz also led the implementation of two accounting systems, including a fully integrated ERP. She brings to MWResource her expertise in project profitability, revenue and cash flow projections, capacity planning, and financial process optimization.
